Established in 1965, the Les Meres et Debutantes Club of Greater Lansing is a community of African-American mothers and daughters dedicated to nurturing the transformation of their daughters into exceptional citizens through our guidance and positive influence. Les Meres et Debutantes Club of Greater Lansing aims to cultivate high ideals and character traits during their formative years, while also guiding them in the acquisition of social graces and good citizenship through group activities. The organization fosters understanding and friendship among its members, and proudly sponsors a Cotillion Ball for debutantes in their twelfth-grade year. The 2025 cotillion ball, A Night of Enchantment, marked the 60th anniversary of the club.
Over the course of six months, I created a “souvenir book” for the 60th anniversary of the Les Meres et Debutantes Club of Greater Lansing. I was in charge of sourcing and editing decades old photos, typesetting, designing, and printing said book (the final product is 200 pages, perfect bound on satin paper). I worked closely with the mothers and advisors of the 2025 debutantes, to ensure their visions of a “bold and beautiful anniversary” were brought to life. Each attendant of the cotillion ball, roughly 150 people, received their own copy of the book to remember the enchanted evening.
